About

RDA Horsham is a voluntary, non-profit organisation which develops the abilities of and enriches the lives of people with disabilities through sporting, therapeutic, educational and recreational equestrian activities in the Horsham and district area.

Our rallies are held every second Wednesday during School Terms (currently) and incorporates horse riding and horsemanship.  Carriage driving and equestrian vaulting are in recess at the moment.  Coaches are accredited with RDA and the Australian Sports Commission.

  • Horse Riding – Through the medium of the pony/horse we see improvements and growth of all participants as a person and community member.  Equipment can be modified to meet special needs and great care is taken to match a suitable pony/horse for participants.  We have an indoor arena that enables our programs to operate all year regardless of the weather.  CIMG3086 (2)

  • Carriage Driving – A valuable outdoor Activity for people with a range of disabilities.  People who may not be able to ride a horse, can participate in equine activities through carriage driving, even those confined to a wheelchair.

  • Equestrian Vaulting – Often described as “gymnastics on horseback” this is a new type of interaction with the horse providing a therapeutic, fun alternative to the typical riding program. Vaulting

  • Horsemanship – Learn how to interact with horses, the care required, how to groom horses, equipment required and how to be safe around horses.

  • Volunteers – All volunteers are required to have a State Government “Working With Children” card and fully vaccinated for COVID.  There are many tasks volunteers can help with at RDA and not all involve handling the horses for those that do not wish to.  Our volunteers are friendly, welcoming people who enjoy helping others.
